People sometimes ask me what an Axis Leadership Diagnostic actually produces.
A thick report is the obvious answer. But it’s not the right one.
The Axis work is a journey of recognition and return. And the diagnostic produces two things: a map of your leadership landscape, and a path home.
Start with the map. Every leader already has a landscape — natural patterns, instincts, blind spots, habits under pressure, the places they keep returning to. All of it exists before I ever meet them. My job isn’t to invent that landscape. It’s to survey it.
The surveying happens over multiple sessions, each one leaving a marker on the trail: a written record of a leader gradually seeing themselves more clearly, and a pointer toward what’s still unexplored. By the time the map is complete, it feels surprisingly familiar. Not because it tells you who to become, but because it explains who you’ve been all along. The map shows you where your center is, and what tends to pull you away from it.
But a map only tells you where home is. It can’t walk you back when life or leadership knocks you off course. And it will.
Once your whole landscape is visible, the work helps you chart the way home.
Recognition gives you the map. Return gives you the path.
When leaders know how to return to center, the business gets more consistent access to their best judgment, natural strengths, and decision-making when the stakes are highest.
What the Axis Diagnostic produces is a way back to yourself.
